  1. Ms. Brown's workshop was both informative and inspiring. I learned many details for preparing the dead. Such as; embalming techniques--there are six possible sites depending on how the person died. Also, abutting the eyelids and mouth which is a special technique for closing the eyes and mouth without glue or stitching. That made me realize there is an artistic finesse to mortuary work. In addition to the talent required for preparation there is a need for a business mind.

Ms. Brown dispelled any stereotypical thoughts I had about funeral directors. She was charismatic and personable, but also had a no nonsense presence. Another quality I recognized was her passion for her profession.

I enjoyed the entire lecture in all aspects. the venue was lovely, the presenter was knowledgable, and it wasn't filled with boring details. All the stories evoked some emotion--be it sympathy or humor.

It would be interesting to have a presenter from the Jewish faith, preferably a rabbi. I find the death rituals in Judaism interesting and i would like to learn more.

  2. I very much enjoyed Ms. Brown's presentation. She was so charismatic, it made the whole thing very enjoyable. I learned many details about preparing the dead for a funeral, as well as how much funerals cost, the business end of the funeral business, and that life insurance companies will totally rip you off if they can.

Ms. Brown clearly loves what she does, and it shows. I think that is what made this lecture so fantastic.

I'd like to see a presenter from any faith, really. Or a bunch of faiths. I just think it would be interesting.

  3. Ms. Brown’s presentation was both very informative and encouraging. I was amazed by the way; she explained everything to the point. I enjoyed the whole entire presentation. Although, I liked how she explained the grieving process. She made it very clear to us that everyone grieves in a different way. Also, grieving doesn’t mean just losing a loved one but that you loss a job, house, etc.
Furthermore, she explained about the preparation of the body. Ms. Brown has her own unique technique for abutting the eyelids and the mouth that does not required glue or stitching. She also explained that are six possible sites for embalming.
Overall, Ms. Brown’s is a very intelligent individual. She has a sense of humor and is a loveable person. I would love to have her speak to our class one more time. During her presentation there was never a dull moment. However, I am open to hear from other speakers from either the Jewish or Muslin faiths.

  4. The presentation that Rae Brown the owner of Brown and Brown Funeral Services and Bereavement Specialist was very interesting. I learned a lot about being in the funeral business. It was something i did not expect because she was such an happy person. I always thought being in that business mean being un happy.

I learned the difference of being cremated, half casket and full casket. Also the prices that would cost people to burry a person and what is the cheapest and most expensive way of burrying your love ones. Also another thing that was intersting to me was how they prepare the body and how inbombing fluid works. These where the difference things that where informative to me.

I felt the whole presentation was great, She knew what she was informing us about. I really wish we had more time to speak with her because there where so many questions to ask.

  5. Ms. Brown's presentation was very interesting. It was inspiring. The way she presented her shop was awesome. She had my attention because of the way she express herself and her body language.
I found very interesting how she explain the abutting the eyelids and mouth which is a special technique for closing the eyes and mouth without glue or stitching. Mortary work since more complex than what I inicaly thoguht, its an art. I also learn that is very expencive the whole funeral business. The casket and the whole dressing up the body cost a lot of money. But one thing I really like was the play technics she explain that could be use to teach children that someone has just past away.
Ms. Brown should of defenily come back and talk to us. I enjoyed the whole presentation and her personal experience when it was her own father’s funeral. She had a great sence of humor.
For our next presentation, I would like to know about Jewish culture. They seem very misterious and different.

Some of them were different techniques regarding the preparation of the corps. Even though I wasn’t present on that day I felt that I gain a lot of information from my classmates. Some of the things I learned were how expensive funeral are. I also learned how they embalm the bodies and how they inject them 6 times in different parts of the body.
